Product overview

AK Crystal Magic Glue is a transparent, resin-based adhesive for windscreens, canopies, domes, lenses and other clear model parts. Its slower working behaviour leaves a few minutes to adjust the component before the glue dries, while the narrow cannula places small amounts into joints and seams. It dries without visible glue marks and can fill small gaps with a clear result. The same consistency can also form convex drops for headlights, position lights and gems, which retain their shape and can be painted after drying.

  • The bottle carries a 1.5 cm precision cannula for applying small amounts in restricted areas.
  • A fitted part can be repositioned for a few minutes before the glue dries.
  • Convex drops dry in approximately 10–20 minutes, retain their shape and can then be painted.
  • Do not shake the product, as this may introduce air bubbles; AK advises stirring it gently.
  • Fresh excess can be removed with a damp cloth without leaving marks.
  • The glue is completely transparent and described by AK as odourless.

Notes · Q & A

When is a water-based modelling glue the right choice?

Choose one when you need time to position a part, easy clean-up or a discreet result around delicate materials. White PVA suits porous materials, card, wood and scenery, while specialist clear glue is intended for canopies, lenses and similar transparent parts where visible adhesive residue would be a problem.

How does thinning PVA with water change how it is used?

Diluting white PVA lowers its viscosity so it can spread through sand, gravel or ballast instead of remaining as a thick bead. A mixture of about 50% water, distributed with a brush, is the usual starting point. Use undiluted glue where a more concentrated application is needed, such as fixing individual stones, tufts or vegetation.

How should I attach a canopy or another clear part?

Apply a small amount of transparent modelling glue along the joint with its fine applicator, then place the clear component and adjust it while the glue remains workable. Avoid flooding the seam. A specialist clear glue dries without visible marks and can fill small gaps more discreetly than an opaque white adhesive.

What should I do about excess glue or a mispositioned part?

Remove excess before the glue dries. Water-based PVA can be wiped away with water and a cloth, while fresh clear glue can be lifted from a part with a damp cloth. Where the clear component is misaligned, reposition it during the available working time rather than waiting until the adhesive has dried.
