Product overview
AK Interactive's signature set for Calvin Tan gathers eighteen 3rd Generation acrylics he considers essential for painting a wide variety of WWII German uniforms in miniature, including 28 mm-scale figure painting. The shades are his personal mixes, and because wartime uniforms varied with use and origin, his mix ratios are a starting point rather than a rule. AK describes Calvin Tan as one of the world's most talented figure painters and a reference for modellers through his master classes and shows. A printed painting guide is included in the box.
Set contains (18 × 17 ml): AK11411 Light Green, AK11420 Waffen Green, AK11424 Grey Green, AK11419 Waffen Red Brown, AK11118 Ocher, AK11409 Orange Tan, AK11189 Dark Prussian Blue, AK11417 Waffen Brown, AK11425 Field Grey Base #1, AK11412 Medium Green, AK11115 Light Earth, AK11036 Ice Yellow, AK11008 Grimy Grey, AK11021 Basalt Grey, AK11027 Rubber Black, AK11004 Ivory, AK11407 Black Uniform Base and AK11414 Splittermuster Base
AK's guide panels for the set work through six painted uniform examples — Paratrooper; Green Jacket with Splittermuster Pants; Oak Leaf, Palm Tree and Plane Tree patterns in autumn and winter variants; Panzer Grey Faded; Splittermuster; Infantry Field Grey — each with base and highlight callouts naming AK codes. The figures are painting examples; no figure is included in the box
Shares three bottles with AK11781 German Panzergrenadier Division, Europe — AK11419 Waffen Red Brown, AK11424 Grey Green and AK11425 Field Grey Base #1. This is the curated 18-colour signature box; that one is a 10-colour starter box with a figure
Matt finish; made by AK Interactive S.L. in Logroño, Spain

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
