Product overview

AK Interactive's Energy Ink Set brings together what AK calls three fluorescent warm-tone inks, for saturated red, orange and yellow accents on miniatures. The box holds three 30 ml dropper bottles — Fluor Red, Fluor Orange and Fluor Yellow — and each ink mixes with acrylic paints to push colour intensity, or goes on straight from the bottle with a brush or an airbrush. Used thinned they behave as filters and washes; used over an established base coat they layer without hiding it.

  • Set contains: AK16042 Fluor Red, AK16043 Fluor Orange and AK16044 Fluor Yellow — all 30 ml, all acrylic
  • AK's own line for the range: the inks can be mixed with acrylic paints for more saturated tones, or used directly with a brush or an airbrush, as filters and washes, or in layers over base colours
  • AK prints two claims on the box and repeats them on every ink's page: the inks are semi-transparent, and their lightfastness is the highest — he publishes no number for it
  • The box carries the range mark “THE INKS — SOUL OF COLOR by AK”

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
